Shut that door

Postby FranklyB » Fri Feb 06, 2009 8:25 pm

i have a thing about mossies, i loathe them, i seem to have got a catchphrase over the last year, that now more son copies to his amusement whenever anyone leaves the door open now he mimics me by saying shut the door (was it john inman in, are you being served)

Anyway the amount of baygon i go through i should have shares in the company, i am always careful to use it when my sons around, as he susceptible to chest infections, i have looked at alternative methods of keeping the things out of the home, such growing basil plants outside the two doors, but wife keeps raping them for making food, tells me the not stop mossies.

Does anyone know of any alternatives to keeping the blighties away.

I think that ''Shut That Door' was a catch phrase of Larry Grayson. Inman's line was 'I'm free!'

THM, have you tried shooting mozzies? It takes time and patience and a good eye but, apart from the lead, there's no toxic substance to worry about. :D

By the way, remember to through your empty Baygon cans on a fire next to your worst neighbours' door. ;)

Seriously, I have no solution that is good for the lungs. The indoor plugs-ins don't seem to work. You might try the electric tennis rackets.

The electric tennis raquets work to an extent but you're fighting a losing battle if the doors are constantly open or being opened. I mostly keep my windows and doors shut but open them sometimes to let some fresh air in. I use the bat to zap the occasional mossie that sneaks in somehow. The wire grill/netting on the windows and back door do a pretty good job of keeping out the mossies. Perhaps you can consider getting a wire mesh door to supplement your main doors (fitted on the inside of the door frame) - but of course, if the mesh doors/windows are left open, you're back to square one. Good luck.
Please forgive me for I don’t know what I’m saying and therefore when I’ve finished saying it.

Being a bit slow I thought I would dig up an old thread. One that is dear to my heart.
Like FranklyB, I hate the little mothers with a passion.
I will stay up all night with my "shock/ tennis racket" and zap every last one of them. I love to see and hear them sizzle. Then, I can sleep. There is nothing so dastardly than biting a person
while they are sleeping. Im awake, im fair game.
What bothers me most is a uncharged one.
Then I got smart, I got one for every room in the house. Upon seeing that, my charming bride thought that was excessive, so every time a family member or friend came over, they got a free "shock".
Sometimes I wished they had one big enough for humans.

They do - and I can tell you where to get one in your own country. It's smaller than an electric tennis racket but much more powerful.
