Connecting to the forum

Postby Spitfire » Sat Feb 13, 2010 9:01 pm

Don't know about anyone else but seem to be having a few problems connecting to the server a bit, sometimes have to try 3 times before I get on, you know, from the bookmarks in Firefox to the forum index page. Get the Firefox 'cannot connect to server message' a bit lately, more so that before. If, as I'm thinking, you're using phpbb then I think an upgrade version has come out recently, version 3.0, and have heard of this problem elsewhere and that the forum software might need an upgrade at some point in the future.

Not 100% sure but seems to be an esculating issue. Maybe it's my connection and the idiots a TT&T are to blame, not sure.

It's a phpBB board for sure - just look at the bottom of the page. But I have had no problems connecting to the forum at all. Works fine for me - and I don't use TT&T. :P ;)
Please forgive me for I don’t know what I’m saying and therefore when I’ve finished saying it.

I too have noticed the slow loading and was attributing it to the server as some security measure rather than to the local provider. Sometimes I'll give up and have to try later to connect. Most other sites come up fairly quickly.

I think that the geographic location of a server and your own ISP package can make a difference. There are times when speeds are agonisingly slow for servers outside Thailand. The internet games shops can slow things down at certain times too.

If several members have a problem and it continues I'll discuss it with my techies who can switch to another server.

Please keep me informed.

Ha ha, don't rub it in, just because you have real Internet broadband and the server is not in the the land of slowness. Do a speed test here through BBK to the outside and it's embarrassing, not to mention the incompetence of some of the local excuses that descride themselves as Internet providers.
