You have probably met them. I don't mean the waitresses that chat you up and ask for your 'phone number. I mean ladies who want a genuine partner to share life with. They may not be your cup of tea but you may have a friend or acquaintance who would like a mature and steady wife or girlfriend who has more in mind than pocket dipping. There are such ladies around and many of them have their own homes and jobs.

For example, what about the lady who works in an amphur? Good job, well groomed, own home and husband gone off with a colleague. Then there's the lady who is experienced at land transfer, marriage and other procedures with which farang need help. Or the widow.

If you know either a Thai lady or farang who is looking for a partner, post some information about them here to help them. Please keep it straight and sincere - jokes belong in other parts of the forum.

Most of these girls are great but you have to be lateral when contemplating these relationships, there are trap doors everywhere. The main problems are the culture divide and expectations that she, or you for that matter, might harbour etc regarding the relationship. The truth is for anyone that is serious with a girl here should understand is that they should visit/stay where she originates from, along with her visiting the west to properly understand where you come from, so you can truely understand each other. Until you accomplish this then there will always be a miss-understanding gap, it is a requesite of a successful relationship regarding mixed cultural marriages, IMHO.

We have all heard the horror stories that run rampantly around the area along with the standard answer from so many that it couldn't happen to them etc, well, , it does.

My advice to anyone here is to have a good time and if you meet someone you like then spend 3-4 years of having fun etc of getting to kn ow them before you marry and commit to a final deal etc.

The horror story can happen to anyone dude. Don't get me wrong, there are many gems to be found but there are also many walking nightmare here too.

I would say that some of the blame often rests at the door of the farang husband or boyfriend too. Some of them go to great lengths to refuse any allowance for the local culture and a few would probably struggle to make any relationship work. Others live with problems and frustrations that put too much strain on a marriage. We should look for a happy medium, as the smiling Doris Stokes used to say.
