Heres a isaan tale

Postby FranklyB » Mon Sep 21, 2009 1:24 pm

Been back a few days now, and everytime i opened the fridge there was a little parcel rapped up in cotton with elastic around it never thought anything about it, then today speaking outside with my wife and she going on about cats and having lucky and you can sell for 1,000 baht, well she goes to fridge and brings back the parcel, opens it up and theres 4 black pieces of something well after about 10 mins i figured it out, we had four kittens imbilicial cords, from birth, well i have my own thoughts about having such in fridge, but after geting told its the same as chicken or fish, i relented in my arguement.

Well heres another Thai superstition if you cat has three colours black brown and brown it is supposed to be lucky to keep the cord and have it blessed by the chief monk, and it will bring luck to you for the rest of your life, :?: as were talking she tells me that she and her sister has one from before, i smile and says you and your sister well this surprises me your sisters house is about to be re-possessed, and you keep telling me that you not have lucky because you marry me  :o , well she looks out me in here disturbed look, looks a the four cords and says i wanted to keep one and sell the other three, now i think i sell all.

so should he have a three coloured cat, or want to start a business of three coloured cats you can get upto 1000 baht per cord, good investment but not sure what you do with all the kittens though.

Interesting story, FB. I do believe that some Thai's are as superstitious as country folk in England.

A three coloured cat decided to move in with us a while ago. My own cat was not amused and did what I could to encourage the intruder to return home. Nothing I tried, from starving it to giving it swimming lessons in the water butt, succeeded in driving it away. It was even taken to a relative home about 4 K away but was back with us within 24 hours. Must be my kind face. I was told that a cat with three colours was lucky and decided to leave it alone. Now it's pregnant!

Thanks for the tip about the umbilical, FB. I'll make sure that they are sold! :D

Tempting idea. I'm sure that some people would pay for such kittens but I foresee two problems:

1. They would be given away if I didn't mount a 24 hour guard.

2. The available partners are not suitably coloured and most have the ugly bent tale. Our pregnant cat, in addition to the colour scheme, is small and perfectly formed. I suppose I could keep her in a cage and select her boyfriends for her.

I would like to find a source of the Korat Cat (four legged variety :D ). I did have the contact details for a breeder near to Korat but have lost the email.

I have been having some fun with this today, a couple of women have been around to see how much for the cords, i have been telling them that we used to live near Thaksin, and our cat used to visit his home and came back pregnant, well i am expecting the price to increase now, as have told my wife not to sell for less than 1,000 sold one so far but my BS may have upped the price after some gossiping around the baan, if you can't beat them join, that my motto now, anyone thats daft enough to pay for such a thing deserves everything they get. :o
