The south of Thailand is now experiencing floods as the rains are pushed southwards. This report contains no sign that there was any preparation:

Police Colonel Sompien Eksomya was killed by a bomb. He had asked for a transfer to a safer Province to see out his time to retirement after several decades working in the area close to the Malaysian border. His request had not been granted. We should remember that police work is not all about speeding fines.
