News media have reported an earthquake in Myanmar that caused damage in Chiang Rai and shook buildings in Bangkok.

Chiang Mai is one of several place that I want to visit but have not yet done so. It's a long trip so some suggestions would be helpful, please.

Would you fly, take a bus or drive from Korat? What hotels and restaurants would you recommend? What should I make a point of visiting there? Are there any good places to see on the way?
