We are seeing more signs of Thailand fulfilling it's promise to trace foreigners wanted abroad or who should not be here because of breaches of the Immigration Act.

Some while ago now, the government of the day set up a new police investigation unit in Chonburi to catch up with foreigners who shouldn't be here. The present government seems to be toughening up on crime more generally than that. Arrests for drug possession and prostitution have become more numerous, for example.

The crackdown on foreign criminals that began in Pattaya was extended to towns such as Korat and has become tougher still in ...

Here are links to the complete Thailand Civil Code in English. I suggest that we should all know at least the topics that it covers so that we can make reference to its provisions from time to time. A knowledge of its provisions that are relevant to you at any particular time can potentially reduce your legal fees.

I received my new British passport today. Before I applied for it I was told several rather different version of the current procedure so I'm using my experience of the procedure to explain just what you need to do under the rules.

First, go to the appropriate section the the Directgov website:
