Passwords

You control your own password. Please use one that contains at least 8 characters and use a mixture of letters (upper and lower case), digits and symbols. Change the password frequently. Never tell anyone your password, even Admin. Never log on with a password to a computer that you don't know. Even your friend may have a key logger on his machine.

If you lose your password, Admin. can, without ever being able to see the original one, create another one for you. If this is done at your request, log on with the new password and then change it.

If you receive an email with a new password but have not asked for one, be vary careful because Admin. does not usually change passwords except on request. If you receive such an email, forward it to Admin. If you need to log on with a new password, immediately go to your profile and ensure that your email address is still correct.

These precautions will protect you, other members and the forum.

Thanks. :)

Please remember the advice in the previous post. You should use the same formula for all passwords, including email passwords. I might add that 11 characters are better than 8.

Users of email services that give the option to leave emails on their server (Google Mail and Hotmail for example) should be careful because someone who gets your password can read those emails, including the ones in the delete box. You might consider taking the option top set up POP3 and download messages to your computer but they will remain for a while in the delete or trash box on the server unless you remove them from there too. If a password is sent to you by email, make sure that you delete it from the server.
